SSDA

Dear SSDA Members,

I am thrilled to share exciting news about Taylor Smith, our Director of Communications and Programs. After three impactful years with the Small School Districts’ Association (SSDA), Taylor has decided to pursue her passion for social work by pursuing a Master of Social Work at San Francisco State University. Additionally, following a highly competitive selection process, she was selected to join a Wellness Intern/Trainee Program at Jefferson Union High School District in the fall.

Since joining SSDA in 2021, Taylor has been instrumental in leading significant initiatives that have profoundly benefitted the association and its membership. Her dedication and creativity were evident in campaigns like the CA Kids Fire Relief effort, which not only garnered support for small school districts impacted by wildfires but also earned a nomination for a CalSPRA communication campaign award.

Taylor’s leadership has been pivotal in the growth of our association, guiding us forward and expanding our capacity to serve our members with a strong focus on putting students first. Her commitment to student engagement was exemplified through initiatives such as establishing The Mighty Future Leaders student advisory council, which empowered student voices and championed mental health awareness through a student panel and art exhibit at the SSDA 2022 State Conference.

Beginning in August, Taylor will be transitioning to a part-time role with SSDA as she embarks on this new academic journey. Please join me in congratulating Taylor on this exciting new chapter and thanking her for her invaluable contributions to SSDA.  We are fortunate that she will continue to serve SSDA in her new role with us.

Sincerely,

Yuri Calderon Signature
